Wind Farms

Wind Farms A public meeting is planned in the Village Hall on September 15/'09. Speakers "for" and "against" wind farms will be present. It is the intention to poll the meeting attendees to determine if West Haddon Parish Council should support or oppose wind farm planning applications. At present there are 3 proposed wind farms for our immediate area:- 1) Watford/West Haddon - www.watfordlodgewindfarm.co.uk 2) Winwick - Entec, Tel: 0113 280 6382 (no website yet) 3) Yelvertoft - www.yelvertoft-windfarm.co.uk The Parish Council want to represent the views of the local community. We know that some residents are against the farms but some are also for renewable energy. We would like to have lots of local input from you so that when the Watford/West Haddon application is received we can make our comments based on fair representation. Please do let us know your thoughts. 1) Watford/West Haddon No planning application has been received yet but Volkswind, who are the developers for the project, are putting an application together and have been consulting with affected local residents. Their web site is - 2) Winwick No planning application has been received yet but the Parish Council received a scoping document for the proposed farm in June 2009. The Council asked that the cumulative effect of all the proposed farms was considered by the Planning Department. None of the Councillors felt that they had the technical expertise to comment on this aspect of the turbines. Winwick Windfarm Information Sheet & Feedback form (E.on) 3) Yelvertoft The Parish Council discussed the planning application in June 2009. We made the decision to support Yelvertoft Parish Council in their reply as they have Councillors with technical skills who know about turbines. The majority of surrounding villages have also made the decision that they will support the Parish Councils decision on their areas.
